In case anyone else gets stuck, the fan power splitter cables that plug into the main block, at first glance appear to be female when they need to be male.

It was lucky I had some spare nylon washers to put between the back of the PCB and the plate to take this slack up. A bit of Google found others with the problem, and a solution. With the stand-offs fitted and fully tightened, this backplate rattled around with far too much play in it for my liking. a Gigabyte G1 Sniper M3) then the backplate fixings supplied are inadequate. Noisy fans aside, if you have a mobo with a thinner PCB than standard (i.e. There were some issues with it though, and this combined with Corsair expecting you to fork out more for quiet fans is why I have not given this 5 stars. If you accept in advance that the two fans supplied with this are not the best in terms of noise, and budget for two better quiet ones, then this is a good cooler.

Overall though, the product itself is a very impressive cooler, it's easy to install and even at full speed doesn't create an intrusive amount of noise.

A version of the software that only shows the relevant data without the silly graphics would be better. The one star loss is for the Corsair Link software, which offers some interesting temperature profiling possibilities, but with a huge graphic of a computer case, which is largely irrelevant as I don't have a Corsair case. I've overclocked an i7 2700K to 4.5GHz and it's now running at a very even 61 degC at full load. Using a combination of Core Temp monitoring software and Heavy Load stress testing software from Jam-Software, I can see a 10 degC decrease in the CPU core temperature at idle, and a better then 20 degC at full load. Once installed, the improvement in cooling was immediately noticeable.

Having installed this the rest of the construction was very straight forward. The back pane installation was a little tricky, but only because the fit is very precise. Some methylated spirits and judicious mopping up with kitchen towel sorted that out. The old heat-sink was applied with a tad too much thermal paste, which had spread all over the CPU and the surrounding bracket. Having removed the old unit, it took a little time to clean up too. The biggest chore was removing the old heat-sink, which was very securely fastened. Spent a very enjoyable morning last Saturday installing the H80i. 5300 on lightning deal so very much happy with its performance.

Very good cooler but little difficult to install if someone faces such problems.īought this cooler for Rs. If someone is facing the same problem of h80i not getting detected then find one spare usb hub's cable and connect the pump directly to front or rear usb. Now i'm able to set fan speed and pump led to any color. Then i removed the spare usb cable and used the supplied cable from corsair to connect pump at one end and another end to usb point on motherboard and h80i is getting detected now all the times. I connected the pump to my front usb and then only my motherboard detected the h80i hardware and corsair link updated the firmware. What i did next is that i used a spare usb hub cable whose one end was similar to the one goes inside pump and another end is the normal usb end. Second problem i faced was that my motherboard/corsair link software was not detecting h80i hardware after connecting the pump using usb cable connected one end to pump and another to my motherboard. Once you put the thumb screw, bracket will become tight. So i would suggest that even if someone finds the loose bracket problem on their motherboard, go ahead and fix the pump. I removed the rubber washer and reinstalled the pump and to my surprise, when i fixed the pump again using thumb screws, bracket was no more loose and the idle temperature came down to 31 degrees. When i googled, many people suggested to put rubber washer to keep the bracket tight and i did the same but after mounting the pump on cpu, idle temperature was around 50 degrees so i removed the pump and found that the pump was not sitting completely on top of cpu as i saw that thermal compound was not on top of cpu. After fixing the bracket on back and screws on top, i found that there was a gap in between the screw and motherboard. I faced few problems while mounting the cooler and would like to share in case someone else is facing the same problem.įirst problem i faced with the loose bracket on my gigabyte motherboard. Excellent cooler, it keeps the temperature of my i5 4690k within 66 degrees while running prime95 and intel burn test.
